Supported Independent Living (SIL) at Nourish Life Care

What does Drop-In Support mean?

Supported Independent Living, or SIL, is a service provided through the National Disability
Insurance Scheme (NDIS) that helps people with disabilities live more independently. SIL offers
support for daily activities and personal care, ensuring that individuals can manage their lives
with the necessary assistance.
Here’s what SIL typically includes:
● Personal Care: This support helps with tasks such as showering, dressing, and
hygiene.
● Household Chores: Assistance is available for cleaning, cooking, and laundry.
● Social Engagement: Support can also be provided to participate in community activities
and meet new people.
The main aim of SIL is to empower individuals to live as independently as possible while still
receiving the help they need. Each person’s support plan is tailored to their unique needs. Some
may require extensive assistance, while others might need just a little bit.
NDIS funding for SIL comes from the “Assistance with Daily Life” category, which is designed to
help people with disabilities lead fulfilling lives in their communities

Key Services:

  • Assistance with daily tasks and personal care
  • 24/7 support including overnight care
  • Support in shared living arrangements or individual homes
  • Assistance in finding stable housing and healthcare providers
  • Help with creating and managing care plans

Eligibility and Funding:

SIL is available to NDIS participants with significant daily support needs. While SIL funding does not cover rent or food, it includes a support coordinator to help manage your plan and connect you with necessary services. If you lack funding for support coordination, we can help you find appropriate providers.

At Nourish Life Care, we ensure a safe and supportive living environment for all participants. Contact us for more details and to start your SIL plan.

1. Initial Meet And Greet

First off, we organise a meet and greet for the client, family, support coordinators and
the team.
Here we learn all about our new clients; what they like, their interests, the type of carers they would like
and other information to offer the most holistic, outcome-focused support.
We are committed to providing the most personalised STA and Respite Support to meet the needs of our
Participants.

2. Learn about the Participant needs

We talk to the participants, their families, Support coordinators and Allied Health Professionals to get a comprehensive understanding of how to best support our new clients in their
home. We will organise training with the BSP clinician or OT if necessary to ensure that we are equipped and
ready to support the participant.

3. Organise fun activities for the Participant

The next step is to create a plan of what the Participant wants to do during their STA time with us – after all, it’s all about making sure the Participant has a good time:

Some of the things we can do include:

    • Movies
    • Zoo
    • Games
    • Getting nails done
    • Massage

4. Regular Communication With You And Your Family

Regular feedback is very important to us at Koala Disability Care. It ensures that your needs are met and you are satisfied
